I have forgotten my pin and can't login to NC Digital library. Help!

The PIN is a 4 digit number that you gave to us at the time of your library card registration. As an added security feature the NC Digital Library now requires users to sign in with a pin. This PIN is the same as the PASSWORD that you use to sign into the Online Catalog  to access My Account, place holds and renew your materials.

If you remember you pin (password) and want to change it, go to the Library Catalog, login to My Account, and click on Account Preferences.

If you do not know you pin (password) or have any problems, call any of the library branches and a staff member can help you reset your PIN (password) by phone. Please have your library card number ready when you call.

Did the holds limit change with the switch to Cardinal?

Forsyth County Public Library hold limit hasn't changed, but holds placed on items in other library systems are subject to their hold limits.  If you'd like to be sure that everything you want will be covered by our very generous allowance, you can select Forsyth County Public Library as you search library.

Is there a way to return an ebook downloaded as an EPUB ebook early?

Is it possible to "borrow" e-books from the library to read on a Kindle?

Kindle is a book reader device. It allows you to read your books via a 6″ display screen on the device. You can download book through a wireless connection.

Unfortunately, North Carolina Digital Library audiobooks are DRM (digital rights management)-protected. That’s a publisher’s requirement for the privilege of borrowing rights for libraries. You might find that WMA or MP3 formats are supported, but not if they include digital rights management protection.

But, things change sometimes quickly. Within the last year, iPods became compatible with only MP3 format, and now they’ve enhanced the OverDrive Media Console to make them compatible with our WMA titles as well! Hang in there. Much depends on the contracts with publishers and how they allow the book to be shared. Thanks for the message. Keep listening, and more importantly, keep enjoying!

I don't see a book in the catalog - what to do?

You have a couple of options.

First of all please go to the Advanced search Online Catalog page (http://forsyth.nccardinal.org/eg/opac/advanced) and check if the book is available at the library (don't forget to expand Search Library option all the way up to NC Cardinal). Recently we expanded the Catalog to 4.2 million items available for holds that can be delivered for free to your branch.

If you can't find a book in the online library Catalog, or if the book is published recently and has age protection for placing hold, please submit your request by emailing to Ask Your Librarian. Don't forget to provide your library card number and the name of the branch library that you'd like to use for checkout. If the book has good reviews we'll buy it for the library collection and place a hold for you.

If the book was published more that a year ago, please let me know (click here) the title and the author's name, and I will submit the Interlibrary Loan request on your behalf. Don't forget to provide your library card number and the name of the branch library that you'd like to use for checkout.

Both options are free for you as a library user. You might also like to check downloadable audio service and see if the book is available to download.
